Rustington CC have recently had the saddles removed from the wicket, leaving a clean flat wicket.
The saddles are the fallout from years over loam build up on the ends, turning into mounds over the years and making it harder for bowlers running in.
With this saddle removal, we also took the time to relay the wicket, effectively like starting from fresh again.
This will help with bounce and pace for our faster bowlers, giving a more true bounce rather than the unpredicted “Rustington Bounce” as it was known for years and years.
